That is what the liberal leadership in Washington seems to think. This past Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, expressed this sentiment on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos…
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?
PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those – one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.
As I watched this, I was reminded of the fictional Baron Bomburst, dictatorial ruler of the small country Vulgaria in the classic children’s movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. As you may remember, the childish Baron Bomburst and his selfish wife despise children. They actually employ the Child Catcher to collect and exterminate children. You may remember one of his memorable quotes, “There are children here somewhere. I can smell them.”
Now, I am not calling Speaker Pelosi a modern child catcher. But her statements seem to be opposed to her life (mother of 5 and grandmother of 6) and her faith (she is a professing Roman Catholic). I wonder how it is she can confess her commitment to her own children, recite the Apostles’ Creed, and make such troubling proclamations.
So, children are the culprit. They are responsible for the state of the financial institutions, not greed. Children are the responsible for the crash of GM, not mismanagement. And they are responsible for the bear market, not the declining population. Someone should tell that to Japan (where couples are now actively encouraged to have and raise children because of the devistation the falling birth rate has had on their economy).
Thus, the stimulus package is really a sterilization package.
Well, at least lawmakers have the forsight to include $600 million earmarked to convert homes to digital television. I suppose that will also help reduce births, especially for the crowd who does not know the answer to the question, “Don’t you know what causes that?” They will have something more interesting to do than be fruitful and multiply.
I wonder who Pelosi thinks will pay the growing tax bill. I think I know.

Don’t think all Roman Catholics are as weak and despicable as Pelosi… I know you didn’t say that or even insinuate it, but I’m just throwing it out there in case one of your readers decides to use Pelosi as the face of the American Catholic church.

I was reading that as well. I have a blog post coming out in the morning on the very thing. I don’t think Pelosi is thinking big enough. I figured, why stop with birth control? What about forced sterilization or even putting down people who get hurt at work? After all, in the Obamanation people are nothing more than units of economic production.

Believe me — she is NOT speaking for the Catholic church any more than she is speaking for you. Do you know how you can tell if Nancy is lying about what the Church teaches? It’s easy to tell — her mouth is moving. It grieves my heart, and I know that it grieves our Father’s heart as well. I pray for her true conversion.

That part of the stimulus package has been eliminated thanks to the outcry of the people. Our voices do make a difference!

I am at a loss on “how” Mrs. Pelosi can be a professing , practicing Roman Catholic and state this ? I am suprised no church discipline has not been issued forth….. I know the Catholic Church’s official stand is not what she is sharing. I know they are , as a church deeply concerned about the rights of the unborn child and the family.
Very sad.
