A Second Opinion

When we hear people argue in favor of abortion, they often cite issues such as the health of the mother, or cases of rape and incest. However, statistics clearly show that over 95% of all abortions happen for one reason – convenience. Consider this as you read this anonymous poem…

There’s a little guy somewhere,
Waiting to appear;
Curled up inside his mother’s
Protective atmosphere.

He’s the one they didn’t plan on,
He’s an extra mouth to feed,
a little inconvenience
Neither of them need.

He’s doctor’s bills and formula,
He’s sleepless nights and stress,
He wet and dirty diapers,
And a home that is a mess.

He could have been a newer car
Or a cabin with a view,
Or a cruise or clothes or Vegas shows,
Or other dreams come true.

So they talked about abortion,
As the alternative,
For that fetal imposition,
Who would change the way they live.

“He isn’t really human,
Why, he doesn’t even breathe!”
He was just a misadventure,
They happened to conceive.

So they sit there in the waiting room,
With papers they must fill,
The waivers and consent forms,
And arrangements for the bill.

They know it’s what they have to do,
There is no other way.
But once or twice they wonder,
What that little guy might say.

“I wish you wouldn’t do this,
I got too much to do.
I have to learn to walk and talk,
To dress and tie my shoes.”

“I have to learn to whistle,
And I have to learn to run.
I have to learn to say my prayers,
For when the day is done.”

“I have to watch for Daddy,
With Mommy at the door and,
I have to ride in carts when
You take me to the store.”

“I have to blow out candles
On a lot of birthday cakes,
And pose for all the pictures
Mommy always takes.”

“If you let them do this
I’ll never learn to wave.
I’ll never have a birthday
Why, I won’t even have a grave.”

“I’ll never play a game
And I’ll never laugh or cry
I won’t even have a name
And I’ll always wonder -why?”

Friends, if you can read this without feeling a pain in your stomach or a tear in your eye, I encourage you to consider your need for Jesus.

And I also ask you to do something about the horror of abortion this weekend. Join us this Sunday for the Peoria Life Chain – or see if there is a life chain near you.

You can also pray for the end of abortion. And you can vote pro-life! When Roe v. Wade was passed in 1973, the Supreme Court voted 7-2 in favor of the killing of children. It has taken three decades to remove some of the left-wing jurists. This election year is crucial for this reason alone!

May the Lord forgive us as a people for our apathy. May He stop the practice of abortion. And may He strengten His church to fight for what is right.

  1. Amen, James! Our church is praying constantly for a reversal/overturn on Roe vs. Wade. May God forgive us for our national sins……blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord!

Blessings to you & your lovely family,

    gloria

  2. Hi, sorry if this is a duplicate post, PC acting up

    On another blog I read:

“You need me. I need you.
    My broken world needs you.
Many a weary troubled heart needs you.
Many a troubled heart will be gladdened by youdrawn nearer to Me and you both,”

My response is that God does not at any time in any way NEED us – he is perfectly holy in all his ways, he needs nothing.

    We need everything he gives

Am I mistaken in my theology?

Do let me know and again I apologise if this comes thru twice (Laptotp isusses and all that!)

  3. Hi Henrietta,

I am not sure which blog you reference or the context of the quote. Of course, the Lord does not need us. Indeed, we need Him. But He has determined the end – and the means. He uses us as the means.

    Blessings,
