“Give me Scotland, lest I die!”       John Knox—1505-1572

Announcing the 2008 Providence Reformation Day Faire
A celebration of the work of God in the life of John Knox
and the Scottish Reformation

Dates: October 24-25, 2008

Welcome to Scotland!
Scotland visits Central Illinois! Join Christian families from around the nation as we celebrate the amazing work of God’s providential hand during the Scottish Reformation! Make new friends as you enjoy a wholesome time of learning, adventure, music, feasting, games, and Christian fellowship. Imagine the heather dancing in the wind, looming castles, the music of bagpipes, and stirring tales of danger, faithfulness, and devotion to God.  Learn about Scottish Reformers, such as John Knox, Patrick Hamilton, and George Wishart. Celebrate with us the victory of King Jesus and the Truth which shook the world in this turbulent, yet triumphant era in history.

Music by Nathan Clark George
Nathan has presented hundreds of concerts at camps, churches, and coffee houses around the nation, where his music is appreciated by both the young and old.  His goal is to encourage a multi-generational vision for the family and the Kingdom of Peace through a truly musical presentation of the Scriptures and transparent snapshots of life that are convicting, yet full of hope. www.nathanclarkgeorge.com

  1. This looks like so much fun! We wanted to go last year, but didn’t know about it until it was over.
We will be teaching our children(8, 7, and 3) about the Scottish Reformation before we go. Do you have any book suggestions for us?

  2. Hi Amanda

There are a number of good resources available – but you have to do some searching! Here’s a few…

For Kirk and Covenant: The Stalwart Courage of John Knox (Leaders in Action Series)

John Knox – a secular work, good historical reference.

From Gileskirk to Greyfriars: Mary Queen of Scots, John Knox & the Heroes of Scotland’s Reformation (Tales of a Scottish Grandfather)

    A Scottish Christian Heritage

And the video The Scottish Covenanters is pretty good.

I hope that gets you started.

Don’t forget to register! We are working on getting a headcount for the event.

    Blessings to your family,

  3. Thank you for the great resources! We found The Scottich Covenanters on Netflix, and ordered it. Also, we placed our orders for the books on amazon. We are looking forward to start learning!!

    God Bless,
    Amanda
