On the Theory of Evolution

For those praying, my father’s condition continues to deteriorate. It is a slow process. Through the trial, our prayer is that the Lord has broken through his hard rebellious heart. I speak with him every day, although the conversations are fairly one-sided. A good friend of mine goes by often as well to pray with him. Whenever my friend offers prayer or speaks of the Lord, my father’s roommate turns up the volume on his television. But, as Elijah discovered in 1 Kings 19, the Lord is often found in the still small voice. So, if the Lord brings it to mind, pray He will save my father in this way, cutting through his delirium to give him new life.

Oh, and the purpose of the post. As some know, my undergraduate degree is in mechanical engineering. Thus, I have always loved the scientific sarcasm of Dilbert. This particular piece brought a smile to my face. In my secular career, I had many a discussion like this with my colleagues. The alternative to the theory of evolution is so damning, the wise of the world would rather close their eyes.

But, as I know with my father, it is the Lord who opens the heart. Salvation is His work. Ours is to be faithful in speaking the truth.

Now, for some humor with an edge…
