Choosing a Church

With my father’s illness, I have been too busy to post much this week. I appreciate all the prayers you have offered for him and our family. However, I saw this video that challenged me – I pray it is a challenge to you.

I receive many questions by email from folks around the country. A frequent one is this, “What do I look for in a church?” This video provides a powerful reminder of the purpose of the church – and our purpose in going to a church.

So, is your church the Love Boat? Or is it the USS Constitution? And, if you are not in a church, are you looking for the cruise ship or the battleship?

My prayer for Providence Church is that we will be a people who expand the Kingdom of God – and this means to be a people in the army of the King. I encourage you to pray likewise for your local church.

  1. Thanks for the video as this is truly a question we have to ask ourselves and as the cruise ship seems so inviting but it is not where we are called to be.

  2. truth. the absolute main thing is if it preaches truth.
